Out to sea...

Only 2 1/2 hour bus ride and I was already on the opposite side of Ireland! Took a day trip to Galway and to the Cliffs of Moher to check out the western seaside. It is absolutely beautiful, just exactly what I always pictured Ireland to be.

We traveled up along the western coast, Atlantic Ocean to one side and the limestone sediment hills to the other (the sediment is what they use to build all of these quaint little walls).

The highlight of the day was centered around the Cliffs of Moher which were a breathtaking view of many cliffs that are set up along the ocean. We spent two hours walking around discovering all the different views and nooks and crannies of the cliffs that were placed in all directions around us. And, cool fact, the cliffs are nominated for the new natural seven wonders of the world.

Completely worth the trip! Wonderful day!! Tomorow off to Cork, in southern Ireland. I've heard really good things!!

A strole through Dublin...

So much for going out last night..I went to take a short nap around 7 and woke up at 830 this morning. Guess I needed some sleep!! Went on a walking tour all around town this morning learned about all of the Irish heritage and all of the so called 'luck' that the Irish have had over the years.

We started at the Dublin Castle (pictured here) and found the Ha'penny bridge constructed by the same people that built the Titanic...needless to say we didn't take our chances walking over that one!! Haha!

We even had a traditional Irish stew for lunch..of course with a Guiness broth! Delicious! Altogether a very enjoyable afternoon!! Now for a shower and a real 'pub' crawl tonight in Temple! Early rising tomorrow for a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher! So excited!!

Running on fumes...

Got to Dublin around 8 this morning. Finally got checked into the hostel around 5pm but begged for at least a shower at 1pm.

Then went out feeling a bit refreshed and did some sight-seeing of Trinity College and some of the major market streets.

I really like it here because it has a big city feel while still being able to get around everywhere by foot. While walking home I thought why am I sooooo tired?? Maybe because I haven't had a bed in almost 2 nights. Word to the wise...dont think you can tough it out in an airport for the night and be worth anything the following day. I have been upright for wayyyy to long. But gonna fix that right now..nap time!! Then out with some hostel friends to Temple district!! Walking tour in the A.M.!

And to think I almost skipped it...

When talking to the bell guy at my hostel in Bruges he just wasn't sure if Luxembourg was worth the trip for only one night..boy was he wrong! I would have taken that train ride for just a 10 minute glimpse at the beauty that is Luxembourg!

These pictures don't do the panoramic views justice at all but I will still try to recreate it here. This morning went for a walk in a beautiful park next to my hostel and found a stream that went along the whole bottom of the valley with cliffs surronding 360 degrees. Just stunning!

After that traveled over to the Casemates which are old ruins that were built in the 10th century. You can go all the way up/down the mountainside inside these caves that were built that long ago..and every so often there is a little alcove where you can look out over the landscape of the city. If you can't tell by now I am completely enamored with this place!! But back to Brusells for my 7am flight to Dublin!! Can't wait to experience that..and heard they are having good weather just like here! Can't ask for anything more! :)

Short trip to Luxembourg

I only have one day in Luxembourg and as soon as I arrived I knew that it was not going to be enough. It is beautiful, centered between cliffs, so it has many levels with an unreal amount of greenery. I am enamored with this city!!

My hostel is situated down in a park and the picture to the right is the view from my hostel window. I don't know how I got so lucky in booking this place. I enjoyed a walk around the center of town and had dinner in the town square (the first time I have eaten out at a nice restaurant) so this is a treat!! Tomorrow I am going to wake up early and go for a strole in the big park by my hostel and enjoy as much as possible before I have to leave. I can't spend to much time here which is a bummer... But its because I have to be back in Brussels tomorrow night to catch my flight to Dublin!!

Found the windmills!!

Found the windmills but no luck with the sheep. Woke up this morning and tried to get as much as I could out of Bruges before I headed on the train down to Luxembourg. I rented a bike and went all around the outside of the city. It was so nice and refreshing to be in nature and just enjoying not having all the noise from the city. I biked to the different windmills around the outskirts and then let myself get lost biking around the city for another hour...but Bruges is so small that you could never really be lost!

Figuring out the train...

Arrived in Belgium today and took another train to Bruges, northern Belgium. Very small city and easy to get around but very crowded with tourists. I think the secret got out that it was so cute and now everyone can't get enough. I bought some fancy chocolates because they are famous for that and they are delicious! Walked around the city a bit and found the Belfry (giant church pictured here) but was pleasantly surprised to also come across a lost part of the city filled with small canals and gardens! That made me smile!! :) Planning tomorow to take a picnic trip around the countryside by bicycle to see the famous sheep and windmills!
