Well I will have to say that the Erlangen fest was an unforgettable experience that I hope everyone gets to experience at least once in their lifetime. I had always heard about Oktoberfest and what a big deal it is and how crazy it is but I think the Erlangen Fest takes a close second.
You start by climbing up a huge hill (it is hidden away back in trees and you might miss it I you don't know it's there). But you can't miss the music from 10 different band and all the chatter from the thousands of people that are there. If you are lucky enough, as we were, you can share a table where you can park yourself for the rest of night. Don't even think about moving bc your seats will be snatched up in a heartbeat.

So I learned quickly that this is no game, you will be drinking one liter beers for the rest of the night. You better hope you work out your biceps before you come because the stein alone ways a good 6 or 7 pounds! But we seemed to handle it...

After a couple of hours of getting to know your neighbors, you notice that some crazy people are standing on the chairs and tables singing away to the music of the nearest band. What you don't know is that you will be one those people all too soon!

Mother nature was nice to us for most of the day. Showers kept threatening, but held off almost long enough. At about 11 or so, it started to rain, we were kind of sheltered by a huge tree so we stayed...but by 11:30 it was pouring! But the band was still playing so..we stayed! As well as everyone around us.
At midnight the bands finally came to a close and so we, drenched as we were, sloshes down the hill in the rain and the mud and found our way back to our hotel. Oh what a night! A night to remember!! :)
