Munilla-What a great place to visit for a nice relaxing weekend! Munilla is a town about 45 minutes outside of Logroño and the family that I am staying with have a house there that they use on the weekends. It is placed right in the middle of the mountains with some really beautiful sites; you can see something different from each window. From one side you see the whole town, but if you blink you’ll miss it. From the other window, you can see the river and the surrounding mountainous terrain. As well as sites, your are not without wildlife, cows walking through the town, meandering to wherever they please, dogs rounding up the cattle at feed time, the bees buzzing in the trees by the garden, and the frogs croaking on the sides of the river. What a picture perfect place to spend a weekend.
Saturday
We had a nice relaxing day. Took a walk
through the village, up to the top where the church was. That’s where the bells
kept coming from! Oh yeah and from the cows! Did I mention that the cows wear
big bells around their necks, so they don’t get lost, I suppose. But it was
kind of a nice warning if you were coming up on one while walking. Haha! Then
we had a nice lunch and off to siesta. After siesta we went on a dinosaur hunt.
A dinosaur hunt, you say?! Yes! Up on the tip tops of one of the mountains
dinosaur prints have been sited. So in honor of their findings, they have now
put up some dino statues, which as you can see the kids loved to climb on. I
was even lucky enough to get up close and personal with one of the prints! Then
we packed our swim suits and went on to the next town over, Arnadillo. In Arnadillo
there is a resort type place with three different pools of hot springs! So
relaxing!! On our way back, Cristina’s brother and his family were awaiting us
at the house; Eva, Jorge and kids. The house is so great because each floor is
pretty much it’s own house with bedrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, and a huge
living room. The kids love all of the extra space…and so do we!!
Sunday
After a nice walk around the town, we
headed over the garden that they have on the other side of the river where they
had planted potatoes. It was our mission to try to dig out the rest of the
potatoes with a couple of hoes. And our prize, to make an amazing dish called
‘rancho’. It’s made with onions, olive oil, chorizo, spare ribs, and of course
lots of potatoes, and two hours of drooling while it slowly cooks to perfection!!
So delicious! After that delicious meal, another siesta was definitely calling
my name. When I woke up, one more walk up to the mountain top and it was time
for us to head back to Logroño. What a wonderful weekend! One like no other I
have ever had in Spain!
Pasamos un día muy
relejado.
No encontramos ningún dinosaurios vivo,
pero encontramos algunos estatuas de dinosaurios. Se puede ver que a los niños
les gustó mucho subir las estatuas. Yo
